In the heart of the new Waterfront di Levante, architecture, nature, and human ingenuity came together for the “Natural Intelligence” conference, organized by Area Arch.
The seafront spaces were transformed into a true laboratory of ideas, where designers, architects, and companies exchanged insights on the theme of natural intelligence—the ability to design in harmony with the environment by combining sensitivity, knowledge, and technology.

In this environment of dialogue and inspiration, Resstende — the event’s main sponsor — took part as an active protagonist, sharing its experience gained through the major Waterfront di Levante project, one of the most significant urban regeneration initiatives in Europe.

Describing the value of Resstende’s participation, CEO Fabio Gasparini commented: “A wonderful location for a highly compelling conference that attracted strong participation and dialogue. It was a pleasure to attend and have the opportunity to present our contribution to this project that has reshaped Genoa’s port area, a work we are proud to be part of.

Guided by the vision of RPBW – Renzo Piano Building Workshop and OBR – Open Building Research, the new waterfront redesigns Genoa’s seaside front, transforming the former back-port area into a contemporary space bridging land and sea, public and private, city and landscape.

Within this project, Resstende designed and installed 1,280 high-performance solar shading systems, engineered to withstand the typical conditions of the marine environment and harmoniously integrate with the architectural language of the buildings. The company’s presence in Genoa also extends to the iconic Aquarium of Genoa, where Resstende installed solar shading systems specifically designed for the Cetacean Hall, ensuring proper protection from sunlight and optimal comfort for dolphins, visitors, and indoor spaces.

This balance between design and technology perfectly embodies the spirit of the conference: transforming light into an active design element capable of generating comfort, energy efficiency, and aesthetic value. The event offered a rich exchange of experiences, cultures, and design approaches, all united by a shared vision: architecture as a tool for harmony, beauty, and responsibility. For Resstende, participating in “Natural Intelligence” meant renewing its commitment to fostering dialogue between innovation and nature, continuing to place its practical intelligence at the service of those who imagine and build the spaces of the future.
