Househut: The value of collaboration in solar shading
In the HHCR (Househut Corticella Rubiera) project, solar shading became an integral part of the architecture from the very early design stages. Designed by NAT Office in the countryside around Modena, the single-family residence reinterprets the tradition of Emilia-Romagna farmhouses in a contemporary way, creating a continuous dialogue between light, landscape and interior spaces.
To meet the aesthetic, functional and construction requirements of the project, Resstende developed a bespoke solution in close collaboration with Casa del Tendaggio, the company’s long-standing partner in the Modena area, and the architectural practice. This shared process accompanied the project from technical consultancy through to installation.
The large glazed surfaces and corner openings required shading systems capable of integrating seamlessly into the building envelope without compromising its clean architectural lines. Different systems were incorporated within a single wall assembly: solar screens, blackout blinds and insect screens.
The choice of Soltis technical fabrics also contributed to the definition of the project, making it possible to modulate natural light, transparency and visual connection with the surrounding landscape, while enhancing indoor comfort.
The Househut project is therefore a concrete example of the collaborative approach promoted by Resstende through its network of qualified partners: a method based on continuous dialogue between the architect, local partner and manufacturer, transforming architectural requirements into integrated, bespoke shading solutions.
Collaboration between different areas of expertise becomes an integral part of the project: from design and technical consultancy through to installation, blinds and solar shading systems are conceived alongside the architecture and complement its language.
